Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey has a fail state, so when all of your hominids are dead, it’s game over. Maximizing the number of members your clan has increases your chances of survival. After this, you can have a baby, expanding your clan in the process. The cap is 20, and you can immediately get to work on expanding your clan by getting a fertile male and female hominid to mate with one another. There’s no downside to maxing out your clan members.
